The construction of an Industrial Complex is one of the major projects launched by the Ministry of Industries to create more employment opportunities while offering viable services to entrepreneurs to flourish in the industrial trade. The Industrial Complex under “one roof’ and “one floor” would also provide infrastructure and utilities to set up business enterprises. Under this project a foundation stone was laid to set up an industrial complex and vocational training centre at Nikewaratiya in the Kurunagala district recently. The industrial complex and training centre are expected to provide more than six hundred employment and training opportunities for youth in the area. Here Minister of Industries Rohitha Bogollagama outlines the proposed industrial complex at Nikewaratiya. Minister of Power and Energy Karu Jayasuriya, Minister of Irrigation and Water Management Gamini Jayawickrema Perera, Indian High Commissioner Sri Nirupan Sen, Australian High Commissioner David Binns and Industrial Development Board Chairman Dr.Bandula Perera are also in the picture.

 

SEC begins probe on Aitken Spence share transactions

The Securities and Exchange Commission has launched an investigation into the share transaction of Aitken Spence and Company, according to a press release issued by the SEC yesterday. The investigation concerns the trading of Aitken Spence shares in May and June 2002.
