Cyclonic winds claim 26 fishermen
Twenty six fishermen died at sea while 29
fishermen are reported missing along with 37 fishing vessels due to
adverse wind conditions affecting several parts of the island.

Snatch thief nabbed
A snatch thief who robbed a gold chain worth Rs
200,000 from a woman travelling in a Colombo bound train from
Puttalam and escaped as it passed the Batuluoya Station on June 2,
was nabbed by Mundalama Police lying in ambush near the same station
on June 4.

Two nabbed while stealing money from temple till
Army troops nabbed two men who robbed money from
the till of Pillaiyar temple at Vellaveli in the Batticaloa district
last week. The two suspects were identified as Nadaraja Rajmohan and
Mailvaganam Sivarasa, residents of Sinnawatta, Vellaveli.
