The ‘workers’ strike’ called by JVP top ranker Lal Kantha who recently said the JVP ‘Meruwa’ “Kepuwa’ ‘Ketuwa’ (‘murdered, cut, carved’) those who snitched against the JVP Deshapremi Movement of the 80s, petered out yesterday without any visible worker participation at all.

UNP politically and financially bankrupt – Earl

The UNP is today bankrupt not only politically but also financially. The only option left for UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is to sell the party by public auction, Plantation Industries Deputy Minister and UNP Additional Treasurer Earl Gunasekera said. Gunasekera said today a lot of corruption and financial rackets were taking place within the UNP due to the lack of proper financial management.
