Cairn Lanka to drill on fourth oil well next week
Cairn Lanka (Private) Limited, a wholly owned
subsidiary of Cairn India, would start drilling on the fourth oil
well (second stage) near Kalpitiya from February 1. Dr. Sunil
Bharati, Director of Cairn India, said that the success obtained
from the first three oil wells in the Manner deeps sea, prompted
them to go in for the drilling of the fourth oil well.
For the first time two Somalian companies would
be purchasing four fishing boats from Cey- Nor Sri Lanka to develop
their Somali fishing sector. General Coordinator of Somali
Sustainable Fishing Development and Nedsom Foundation,
TKS Finance, Asian Finance join hands with Seylan Bank to issue
credit cards
A Memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed
on 16 January 2013 with Seylan bank PLC with TKS Finance Ltd and
Asian Finance Ltd, the companies under the TKS Group. On this
occasion, TKS Group Deputy Chairman, Dato Abdul AzimZabidi,
Sampath Bank which
recently scored yet another ‘first’ with the opening of
Sri Lanka’s first ATM with the facility to exchange
Foreign Currency, intends to open similar foreign
currency ATM s in towns such as Kandy, Dambulla and
Negombo, where there is a high necessity to change
foreign currency in the not too distant future. Sampath
Bank account holders as well as non account holders can
change dollars and other foreign currency through this
ATM . Sampath Bank Managing Director Aravinda Perera
said at a time the country is moving to achieve US$ 4000
per capita income, they were happy that Sampath Bank
could contribute even in a small way by introducing the
first foreign currency exchange ATM to Sri Lanka. Here
the ATM being commissioned by the Governor of the
Central Bank, Ajith Nivard Cabraal. Deputy Governors of
the Central Bank, Sampath Bank Chairman Dhammika Perera,
Managing Director Aravinda Perera, and members of the
Board of Directors. Senior officials of the Central
Bank’s Foreign Exchange Department and Sampath Bank look
on.
