SLPL to promote young talent
Sri Lanka Captain Mahela Jayawardene said that
when he first played for Sri Lanka, he never had big opportunities
like the ones that young players have nowadays. He said so at the
official launch of the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) at Cinnamon
Grand Hotel, in front of a host of media personnel, cricketers and
well wishers last evening.

U.V.N. Chandrakumara fought fiercely and
clinched the men’s over 35 singles title in the 97th Colombo Tennis
Championship beating S.Sudarshana in the final (7/6(6), 6/3) which

Holy Family Convent ‘A’ take under 14 netball title
Holy Family Convent, Kurunegala ‘A’ team,
clinched the championship of the “Sisu Udana” Inter schools under 14
netball tournament and Sri Lanka Schools Netball Team won the under
21 netball championship of the “YES” netball tournament sponsored by
Peoples Bank which concluded at Jayathillake Stadium, Nawalapitiya
