Ratnapura and Moneragala cricket champs

Ratnapura (men) and Moneragala (women) district teams captured the
championship titles at the Cricket Tournament recently held at Balangoda
National School Grounds to coincide with the 24th National Youth Sports
Festival 2012.

Representing all the districts 12 men’s teams and 13 women’s teams
participated at the tourney.
The women’s tournament was conducted as a six-a-side tourney.
The highlight of this tournament is that all the districts in the
North and East participated at the tourney.
Results (Men)
Champions - Ratnapura District Team, 1st runners-up - Batticaloa
District Team, 2nd runners-up - Colombo District.
Women
Champions – Moneragala team
1st runners-up – Ratnapura District
2nd runners-up – Puttalam District
K.A.I.S. Kalugampitiya of Ratnapura District was selected as the all
rounder of the tournament.
The winners will be awarded and rewarded at the 24th National Youth
Sports Festival to be held in the end of July at Mahinda Rajapaksa
International Stadium, Diyagama, Homagama. |
