Anuradhapura and Colombo Tug of War champions

Anuradhapura district men’s team clinched the championship title of the tug-of-war event of the 24th National Youth Sports Festival conducted by the National Youth Services Council recently held at Kurunegala UC grounds.

The women’s championship title was secured by the Colombo Urban Youth team.

22 men’s and women’s teams took part at the tourney.

The mens’ final of the event was held between Anuradhapura district team and Gampaha district team. Anuradhapura district team clinched the championships title 1st runner-up was Gampaha and 2nd runners-up was Colombo district team. At the women’s final held between Colombo Urban Youth team and Gampaha team. Colombo Urban Youth team recorded an easy win. 1st runner-up was Gampaha and 2nd runner-up was Kegalle. The winners will be awarded at the 24th youth sports festival to be held in July 2012 at Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa international stadium.
