German airline to invest in Hambantota Int’l airport
A leading German airline is exploring the
possibility at investing in the Hambantota International Airport (HIA).
The airline is also seeking a working relationship with SriLankan
Airlines. An official from Ministry of Civil Aviation told Daily
News Business that the German airline is contemplating in setting up
a Mechanical Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at the HIA.

Lankan banks stable - Fitch
Fitch Ratings said that its outlook for the
majority of Sri Lankan banks is stable, underpinned by improved
earnings prospects due to post-war growth in the domestic economy as
well as the government’s capacity to support the banking system.
However, rapid loan growth will test the banks’ risk management
systems and funding profiles.

Ceylinco Insurance posts Rs.1.1 billion PAT, recording 41.1%
growth
Ceylinco Insurance recorded an envious profit
after tax of Rs.1,129 million (Rs 1.1 billion) for the year ended
December 31, 2011. During the year under review, Ceylinco Insurance
PLC made an operational profit of Rs.1,301 million ( Rs 1.3 billion
). The after tax profit of the group stood at a staggering Rs.1,393
million, signifying a growth of 39% year on year.
