Link Natural Products breaks new ground in training
Link Natural Products held a convocation for its new batch of Sales
Representatives on March 23, at its factory complex in Dompe, after a
rigorous training programme that kept them in residence for over 3
months.
The ceremony was attended by parents, who enjoyed the day, learning
what their sons were doing during the training. This was a multi faceted
programme in turning out new and energetic personalities to handle a
challenging job. Explaining the reasons for such a strenuous training
programme, HRM Strategist, Janaka Kumarasinghe said, "It is not that
uncommon for many industries and companies to face a shortage of
competent people. Construction, IT, hospitality, plantation, health care
and many other sectors are affected by this shortage and their growth is
challenged due to that."
The profession of sales is also a starving of human resources, said
Kumarasinghe.
Today young people have a wider choice. To further study, join BPO
jobs, customer care jobs and many other vocations and professions.
Joining a sales career and developing themselves has become a lesser
priority for youngsters, unlike few decades ago. "Even Link Natural was
no exception when it came to sales force recruitment but they have
decided to act out of the box." observed Kumarasinghe, referring to the
training programme.
"This is a unique program which many companies are thinking of
implementing, but only Link Natural could get it off the ground," said
Dinesh Angammana, National Sales Manager, Link Natural Products,
addressing the parents and company participants at the convocation
ceremony after the Sales Competency Development Programme.
Representing remote parts of Sri Lanka, 20 youth participated in this
3-month residential training programme conducted by the company known
for its national iconic brands such as Samahan and Sudantha.
Participants at this programme were from Embilipitiya, Polonnaruwa,
Monaragala, Hambantota, Matara, Dickwella and Kuliyapitiya.
A brain child of Dr. Devapriya Nugawela the Chairman of Link Natural
Products, training included developing endurance of participants,
English language competencies, selling skills, product and process
knowledge and other soft skills.
