UN again condemns Honduras coup
UN: The Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon,
repeated Wednesday the UN condemnation of the coup in Honduras and
fought for an agreement by consensus to solve the crisis in that
country.
In a declaration emitted here, the head of the organization denied
versions of the media originated in Tegucigalpa and ascribed the
opinions of a consultant to the UN Department of Political Affairs. In
that sense, Ban specified the UN position regarding Honduras appears
clearly in the resolution 63/301, approved by the General Assembly last
July 1.
That document condemns the coup that interrupted the democratic and
constitutional order and the legitimate exercise power in Honduras. The
Secretary General considered deceitful the news report published in
Honduras and repeated that the points of view of the UN Department of
Political Affairs are in total accordanced with the resolution of the
General Assembly.
The General Assembly also condemned the disposition of the
democratically elected President Jos‚ Manuel Zelaya, and demanded the
immediate and unconditional restoration of the constitutional
government. Ban Ki-Moon urged in his declaration this Wednesday, both
parts in conflict to avoid distractions and to maintain the attention in
the objective to achieve an agreement though a dialog that ends the
