War heroes should not be dragged into politics - Media Minister

The Opposition should not destroy the good image of the brave soldiers who fought the LTTE fearlessly to liberate the country from the clutches of terrorism, Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said.

The Minister addressing a press conference yesterday said the Opposition is trying to tarnish the image of the Security Forces personnel by bringing them into politics.

"Only the present Government could ensure the dignity of Security Forces personnel. Now they have won the respect of others."

"The dignity of our war heroes should not be sullied by bringing them into politics.

We are all well aware of the sacrifice they have made and we must respect their tremendous service. No one has the right to destroy their good image by bringing them into politics," Minister Yapa Abeywardena added.
