Golden Key case:
Suspects refused bail

Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Harsha
Sethunga refused applications for bail in respect of 11 suspects
remanded in connection with the alleged Golden Key Credit Card fraud and
remanded them till November 12.
The Judge directed Fiscal Officers to produce the suspects on October
28 to extend the remand order.
The Judge told the Counsel who appeared for the depositors to make
their complaints, if any, regarding interference with the prosecution
witnesses to the CID.
The Judge told CID to report to Court regarding those complaints, if
they have been made, on the next date.
Deputy Chairman Cecilia Kotelawela was not present in court
yesterday. The other 11 suspects were present in Court.
Senior State Counsel Damith Totawatta who appeared with Sub Inspector
Nalinda Herath of the CID for the prosecution strongly objecting to the
suspects being released on bail said that he is concerned only with the
Golden Key case and not any other cases pending before several other
courts.
President’s Counsel Rienzie Arasacularatne, Anil Silva, Jeewanthi
Jayatilleke and Ravi Mathugama who appeared for the suspects moving for
bail said their clients are prepared to submit affidavits to settle the
depositors.
Attorneys Sumeda Hewage and Bandara appeared for the depositors.
The case will be called again on November 12.
