Voters will defeat Opposition conspiracy - NFF Leader

Wimal Weerawansa

LTTE terrorism which plagued the whole country was uprooted under the guidance of President Mahinda Rajapaksa after he was elected President at the Presidential Election in 2005, Chairman of the National Freedom Front Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa said.

Weerawansa addressing a press conference yesterday said people took a wise decision to elect President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

“The UNP and the JVP do not have a suitable person to contest the Presidential Election. They are talking about a common candidate,” he said.

“The UNP knows that Ranil Wickremesinghe cannot win at the election while the JVP is also in the same position,” he said.

“It is comical to see that those who conducted Sathyagrahas and campaigns when the war heroes were fighting to liberate the country are now seeking their support to come to power.”

Detractors have clearly understood that Ranil Wickremesinghe can never win. Therefore, they have joined hands with certain international forces to defeat the Government.

“The JVP also says shamelessly that they would defeat the Government by forming an alliance even with the UNP. JVP is now going astray as the party doesn’t have a correct vision,” Weerawansa added. Weerawansa appealed to all patriotic forces to unite to defeat the international and local conspiracy against the country.
