Selected students for courses will be admitted to campuses

All students who have already been selected to courses of study at universities will definitely be admitted to the respective university as they are so informed, a spokesman for the University Grants Commission (UGC) told the Daily News when he was asked whether the UGC had advised the Colombo University to take in, students who obtained low marks while students who obtained high marks were left outside.

The UGC calculate the number of students for a particular course of study based on the Z-score under the normal provision. Therefore students who have been already selected to universities will be enrolled in the universities.

“However, there are vacancies for almost all courses of study since a considerable number of students do not enter universities.

This situation is rather common as students sit the A/L examination again and some get employed in preference to entering universities.
