Crash program necessary to uplift standards :
Govt mulls 88 percent tea production from smallholders
The Government plans to get tea smallholders to
contribute 88 percent of the total national tea production. It is
necessary to commence a crash program to uplift the standards of
cultivation among tea smallholders, said Plantation Industries

Proper mechanism needed to collect raw materials:
Big demand for non-kernel coconut products in Europe
There is a big demand for non-kernel coconut
products (husk-based) especially for activated carbon in many
countries in Europe. Therefore there should be a proper mechanism to
collect the non-kernel raw materials for the industry, said the
Chairman of the Coconut Development Authority (CDA), Keerthi Sri
Weerasinghe.
