CSE conference on 'Up thrust - in turbulent waters'

The Conference, organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of University of Moratuwa is themed, "Up Thrust - in turbulent waters". The aim is to address and overcome the barriers of these economically challenging times with the use of information technology whilst discovering the inner potential. The foremost event in the calendar of CSE held annually, strengthens the bond between the IT industry and the Department. Prominent speakers in the IT field will address the conference. Being accredited for its innovative ideas, the department is introducing new sessions to the conference this year. Apart from the inspiring speeches, a chosen set of CSE graduates from this year will present papers of their final year projects. Thus, presenting their potential to the IT industry and sharing their knowledge with CSE undergraduates.

Another feature of this year's event is "Extal 2009", an exhibition of the talents of CSE graduates of 2009 which would be held parallel to the conference.

This will consist demonstrations of final year projects and give the audience an opportunity to acquire more information of the projects. The conference and the exhibition will be open to the public.

The CSE conference will be held tomorrow from 9 a.m. at the 36th floor, East Tower of the World Trade Centre.

The conference will be followed by the annual get-together of the CSE Department. The staff, students and alumni will participate. This will be held with the Annual General Meeting of CS and ES. The gathering at the CSE Conference and get-together will comprise CEOs, CTOs, entrepreneurs and technopreneurs.
