In recognition of the services rendered to the Motherland in eliminating terrorsim from the Sri Lankan soil by Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka and Navy Commander Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda in the war against terrorism, President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday promoted General Fonseka as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Admiral Karannagoda as the National Security Advisor with effect from July 15.

Defence Secretary pays glowing tribute to STF

The Police Special Task Force (STF) is one of the Forces who were involved in bringing peace to the country after three long decades of war carried out by the inhuman terrorist organisation, LTTE. ‘Winning war with less casualties, a great victory’

The deaths reported within the Sri Lanka Army is much lower during its victorious march to eliminate terrorism from the country compared to the number of deaths reported during 2000 when Sri Lanka Army was losing ground to the LTTE, Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka said.
