Triple murder in Nawalapitiya:

Bodies found in decomposed state

A triple murder is reported from Kataboola Group, Kataboola in the Nawalapitiya Police area.

The victims are Sathyaveloo Sivanmale, 59, a Kangany attached to this estate, his wife Veloo Chandrakumari, 43, and their daughter Shivanmale Vijaya Dharshani, 21.

The three were found dead in their line room in the estate.

The three had been assaulted with clubs. Nawalapitiya Magistrate W. Aluthgamage visited the scene of the murder on Saturday. The bodies which were in a highly decomposed state were later taken to the Nawalapitiya Base Hospital for the post-mortem examination.

Sivanmale had not reported for work since July 9, sources said. Deputy Inspector General Central Province West Pujith Jayasundera told the Daily News that the estate workers had alerted about Sivanmale on Saturday.

Nawalapitiya Police had gone to their house, forced open the line room door where they discovered the three bodies in a decomposed state.

The three had been allegedly murdered several days ago, police said. Four persons have been taken in for questioning.
