Defence Secretary pays glowing tribute to STF

The Police Special Task Force (STF) is one of the Forces who were involved in bringing peace to the country after three long decades of war carried out by the inhuman terrorist organisation, LTTE. Therefore, our special thanks goes to the STF personnel for their brave acts conducted during the war period, said Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa when he met the STF personnel in Ampara District recently.

Inspector General of Police Jayantha Wickremaratne, Senior DIG Mahinda Balasuriya, STF DIG K.M.L. Sarathchandra and DIG Operation R.W.M. C. Ranawana received the Defence Secretary on his arrival at the Ampara District to meet the STF personnel.

The Defence Secretary later inspected a guard of honour accorded on his arrival by the STF personnel in the Ampara District.

“Not only myself but also the people of the Ampara District paid tribute to the STF personnel who were in Ampara District for their assistance to eliminate the LTTE terrorist organisation from the country,” said the Defence Secretary.

The STF Personnel are also engaged in providing high security to the VIPs. Their assistance is great and invaluable, said the Defence Secretary. Appreciating the professionalism displayed by STF personnel during the war, the Defence Secretary commended the dedication and commitment of the STF.

The Defence Secretary was visiting Ampara District to pay tribute to the STF personnel who were on duty during the three year old humanitarian operation in the Vanni and the East.

The Defence Secretary with other Senior Officials inspected an art exhibition and also took time to speak to the STF personnel about their welfare.
