Promoted in recognition of services to Motherland
In recognition of the services rendered to the Motherland in
eliminating terrorsim from the Sri Lankan soil by Army Commander General
Sarath Fonseka and Navy Commander Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda in the
war against terrorism, President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday promoted
General Fonseka as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Admiral
Karannagoda as the National Security Advisor with effect from July 15.
Major General Jagath Jayasuriya has been appointed as the Army
Commander and Rear Admiral Tisara Samarasinghe as the Navy Commander
from July 15.
