Relics of the Buddha brought from Bangladesh were exhibited for the veneration of Sri Lankan devotees at Gangarama Viharaya, Hunupitiya, Colombo. Ven. Piyaratana Anunayaka Thera of the Chittagong Viharaya on his departure afforded an opportunity for President Mahinda Rajapaksa to pay homage to the Relics at Temple Trees. Here President Rajapaksa takes a closer look at the Relics. The President also presented a Buddha statue and some Relics of the Buddha to Anunayaka Thera of Chittagong. Govt. rejects LTTE ceasefire offer

Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama told Parliament yesterday that the Government would not enter into any agreement with the LTTE although they have declared a unilateral ceasefire during the period of the SAARC summit.

Madhu statue conveyed to Mannar

The reverend Statue of Our Lady of Madhu was conveyed to the cleared area of Mannar by Catholic church officials yesterday. The statue was earlier conveyed to an uncleared area before the Security Forces liberated the Madhu area.
