Pulimood memorial oration
The trustees of the Susan George Pulimood Educational Trust and the
Executive Committee of the Visakha Vidyalaya Old Girls’ Association has
organised the eighteenth Susan George Pulimood Memorial Oration which
will be delivered by Dr. Dhanapali Kotthachchi today at 5.15 p.m. at the
Jeremias Dias Hall, Visakha Vidyalaya, Vajira Road, Colombo 4.
South Asian Youth Summit
Sri Lanka-United Nations Friendship Organisation (SUNFO) with the
collaboration of GCAP, CCGC, CCF-Sri Lanka, Plan-Sri Lanka, World
Vision, SOS and LYON will organise a ‘Youth Conference on Colombo

Police Headquarters has requested public information to help trace
Nirosha Salwathura, 34, and her four-year-old son Amanda Sandeepa who
are reported missing from her home at No. 239/8, Pahala Biyanwila,
Kadawatha since 28.04.2008.
Nirosha is 5ft 2 inches tall, hair parted and combed back, fat and
with a scar on the middle of her forehead.
Amanda Sandeepa is 3 ft tall, fair with hair cut short.
Any information regarding them should be furnished to her husband
Wickramanayake Karunaratne Wijayakumara at the above address or to the

Tiruchelvam Memorial lecture
Prof. Gowher Rizvi, Director of the Ash Institute for Democratic
Governance and Innovation, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard
University will deliver the ninth Neelan Tiruchelvam Memorial Lecture on
July 27, at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute Auditorium at 6.00 p.m.
The title of his lecture will be on “Democracy, Governance and
Development.”
Before joining the Ash Institute, Prof. Rizvi was the Ford
Foundation’s Representative in New Delhi, having previously served as
the Foundation’s Deputy Director for Governance and Civil Society in the
New York office. He was also a Fellow of Nuffield College, Oxford, and a
professor of Politics at the University of Oxford.
New appointment
The International University for complementary medicines in Greece
conferred the Doctor of Philosophy on Sujeewa Lokuhewa, Director/Group
General Manager of EAP Regent Group at the International Congress of
Complementary Medicines in Athens recently. Prof. Dr. Githanjan Mendis,
Consultant Neurologist was the chief guest. Dr. Sujeewa Lokuhewa studies
at Rahula College, Matara and was the athletic captain in 1981 and also
obtained colors.
He started his career under Dr. Lalith Kothalawala, Chairman,
Ceylinco Consolidated and presently under Dr. (Mrs.) Soma Edirisinghe,
Chairperson, EAP Consolidated. |
