Tiger bomb kills Jeyaraj

14 others including National Athletics Coach, ace marathon runner killed:

Highways and Road Development Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle and 13 others were killed in a LTTE suicide bomb blast in Weliweriya, Gampaha around 7.45 a.m yesterday, which also left over 90 people injured.

Irreparable loss - PM

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka in a condolence message on the untimely death of Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle reiterated that the LTTE was engaged in this type of heinous crimes to paralyse the Government's effort of eradicating terrorism from Sri Lanka.

Colombo Port achieves historic growth

The Port of Colombo achieved a year on year container throughput growth, of 10 per cent in December 2007. This is a record achievement given the fact that the traditional leaders of the container port league have only managed single digit growth during last year.
