Unbeaten Lankans into quarters

Sri Lankan soccerites took the top spot in their group yesterday when they drew with host Taiwan two all. Their unbeaten record here also gave them the opportunity to qualify for the quarter-final stage of the AFC Challenge Cup to be played in India in July.

Taiwan the host country was in front with the score reading two goals to one at the breather.

The scorer for Sri Lankan being the main striker Kasun Jayasuriya. Taiwan could not penetrate the Lankan defence in the second session of play but the visitors used all they had in store and managed to go past the defence line of the Taiwan outfit.

Rawmy Mohideen made good use of this opportunity to slam in the second goal for Lankans which also made them to be unbeaten team in this group.

Meanwhile Kasun Jayasuriya also made his name to be in the record books becoming the top goal scorer with a tally of six goals.
