The Port of Colombo achieved a year on year
container throughput growth, of 10 per cent in December 2007. This
is a record achievement given the fact that the traditional leaders
of the container port league have only managed single digit growth
during last year.

Tourism can still be a number one forex earner
to Sri Lanka said Pacific Asia Travel Association Chairman Board of
Directors, Brian Deeson. Speaking to 'Daily News Business' after the
conclusion of the 57th PATA AGM and Board Meeting in Colombo he said
Sri Lankan tourism peaked in 1973 and it was the number one tourist
destination in the region.

National Crafts Council organised a trade fair at the
National Arts Gallery to coincide with the Avurudu
season. The Handicrafts Fair displayed crafts made by
rural craftsmen ranging brassware, wood carvings, rush
and reed, cane and bamboo, pottery, lace, embroidery,
