The LTTE continued its violent campaign killing Puttalam district MP and Nation Building Minister D.M. Dassanayake in a claymore mine blast at Rukmani Devi junction, Ja-ela yesterday.

President calls for unity against terror

The assassination of Minister D. M. Dassanayaka deserves the most vehement and unequivocal condemnation by all those who respect democracy, desire peace and value human life. His assassination in a claymore mine attack by the LTTE is yet another example of its continued commitment to terror and violence to achieve its separatist goals, and absolute contempt and disregard for human values and the policies and practices of democracy.

Blast in Fort, none injured

A suspected parcel bomb placed in a telephone booth opposite Lake House roundabout and adjacent to the Regents flats was exploded last night just few minutes after Air Force Commander Roshan Gunatilleke passed the location. The Air Force Commander had left the Air Force Headquarters a few minutes earlier to proceed towards his official residence.
