Mobile phones becoming soft porn device
DUMINDA SENARATH
Some schoolgirls in popular girls' schools in Colombo act in indecent
videos and taking nude pictures of women using modern mobile phones has
become a common practice, Chief of the Children's and Women's Bureau, IP
Buddhika Balachandra said.
He was addressing a seminar organised by the Children's and Women's
Bureau and Women in Need to educate Woman OICs of 36 Children's and
Women's desks set up countrywide.
He said that nude pictures of women are stored in mobile phones used
even by schoolboys.
Investigations have revealed that many schoolgirls have posed for
nude videos and their school uniforms very clearly show which schools
they belong to.
It is also revealed that school girls aged 14 to 16 work in night
clubs part time. Senior lecturer of the University of Colombo Prathibha
Mahanama said that awareness has been created on child exploitation
again after an infant was kidnapped from the Kalubowila hospital.
The public had also provided information in connection with another
incident where a couple from the Netherlands tried to take away a Sri
Lankan baby illegally.
"It is sad to see that no one pays attention towards disabled
children who are being exploited. Some parents use their children to
earn money.
Parents should be educated on the relevant laws," he said. Officials
from the Bureau and Women in Need were present.
Stickers on the prevention of child abuse were distributed among the
participants. |
