Dickwella town development begins

Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh
Gunawardena inaugurated the Dickwella town development work which is
estimated to cost Rs. 110 million on a request by Transport Minister
Dallas Allahapperuma.
The project will be implemented under the Matara Dickwella urban
development project jointly funded by the Asian Development Bank, Urban
Development Authority, Southern Province Council Economic Promotion
Project and the Dickwella Pradeshiya Shaba.
The Dickwella main bus stop, new administrative complex are being
constructed costing Rs. 89.1 million. Dickwella weekly fair will also
receive a facelift.
The UDA will implement the project under the supervision of Urban
Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardane.
Minister Dinesh Gunawardane said the Government has inaugurated
massive development projects for the benefit of the masses while huge
quantity of money is being spent for the eradication of terrorism.
He said sufficient funds have been reserved from the budget-2008 for
the country's development.
The country's development depends on how we focus on the rural sector
development.
The Government under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa is
striving to take the city centric development to rural villages.
He hopes they would be able to complete the development within due
period under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Water Supply Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said the tsunami devastated
thousands of lives and properties worth rupees billions.
The Government could redevelop the coastal areas within three years
under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Southern Province Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal de Silva, former
Minister H.R.Piyasiri, Dickwella Pradeshiya Shaba Chairman Krishali
Muthukumarana, UDA Director General Prasanna Silva and several others
were present. |
