Balance of trade in favour of Lanka:

Exports to Mexico rise

Sri Lanka has the potential to penetrate into the Mexican market. The balance of trade is in favour of Sri Lanka, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce figures show. Lanka’s exports to Mexico is growing at a rapid pace. The 2005 and 2007 export figures were Rs. 4643 million and Rs. 4871 million.

Country must formulate new funding methods - CB Governor

BoI signs 19 new projects totalling Rs. 7,000 m.

The BoI signed agreements for 19 new projects totalling Rs 7,000 mn at the BoI yesterday. Out of these 19 projects signed by Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion Minister Sarath Amunugama six companies are manufacturing for export.

ACCOLADE: Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Sampath Bank Anil Amarasuriya was conferred with the “Indira Global Super Achievers” for 2007/2008 at a ceremony in India recetly. This award was presented to Amarasuriya in recognition of his talents, competence, and skill and also the contribution towards the success of Sampath Bank. Indira Achiever Awards, organised by the Indira Group of Institutes was in place since 2004 was further enhanced in 2006, with the introduction of Indira Global Super Achievers Awards. Amarasuriya has vast corporate business experience in Sri Lanka as well as in the Middle East having worked for Grindlays Bank in Colombo and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Abu Dhabi. He was awarded the “CIMA Janashakthi Pinnacle Gold Award for Business Leader of the Year - Large category in 2005”. The award was presented to Amarasuriya by Chairperson, Indira Group of Institutes, India, Tarita Mehendale.
