ICRC to help trace missing persons

The International Committee of the Red Cross yesterday said that out of a reported 20,000 complaints, 2,200 persons have been confirmed as missing in the last 12 years of the war.

No Confidence motion comfortably defeated : State's security not compromised - Marapana

Defence Minister Thilak Marapana asserted that the security of the State has not been compromised despite steps to restore normality. He said "vigilance has been preserved though not all that visible. The Forces have not lowered their guard and the Navy is on full alert to detect suspicious vessels".

22 vehicles worth Rs. 200 million stolen : Police bust massive vehicle racket, eight in custody

A massive vehicle fraud was uncovered by the Western Province North Police Anti Corruption Unit yesterday when they detected 22 vehicles worth more than Rs. 200 million which were hijacked and stolen from various parts of the country. They also took into custody eight suspects.
