Thailand agrees to host talks

Thailand yesterday agreed to host the historic face-to-face talks between the Sri Lankan Government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam . The Norwegian-brokered talks, aimed at finding a lasting political solution to the North- East conflict, are expected to take place in May.

Troops clear LTTE obstacles on Valachchenai - Batticaloa road

Three LTTE members clad in civil clothes had blocked the Valachchenai- Batticaloa road in the general area of Kinniady junction by placing stones and logs in the middle of the road in the wee hours of Thursday, a Government Information Department press release said yesterday.
