by Kesbewa roving correspondent A businessman who tendered two cheque which were later dishonoured by the bank for the purchase of a consignment of cement worth about Rs. 218,400 from Tokyo-Lanka Cement Company was released on Rs. 100,000 cash bail and Rs. 250,000 personal bond by Kesbewa magistrate and District Judge, Munidasa Nanayakkara. The accused who pleaded guilty to the charge was further ordered to pay at the rate of Rs. 7,500 monthly from April to December 2002 and Rs. 10,000 thereafter, to the company. Attorney-at-Law, Chandrasiri Abeysinghe appeared for the accused while Tokyo-Lanka Cement Company was represented by D. S. Bodinagoda, Attorney-at-Law. The Mount Lavinia police prosecuted. |
