TOKYO, Friday (AFP) - The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) said Friday it would extend a 33,265 million yen (251 million dollars) loan to Sri Lanka to help develop the country's hydroelectric power system. "Since water is the country's sole natural resource available for generating electricity ... the (Sri Lankan) government has been striving to build a power supply system that makes the utmost use of its abundant water," the JBIC said. The repayment period of the loan is 40 years with a 10-year grace period. |
