‘Dinamina Vesak Kalapaya heralded Buddhist revival’

The latest edition of the annual Dinamina Vesak (Kalapaya) published
by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (ANCL) was launched yesterday
at the ANCL premises under the patronage of members of the Maha Sangha.
The first copy was presented to Most Ven. Kotugoda Dhammawansa
Anunayaka Thera by ANCL Chairman Bandula Padmakumara.
ANCL General Manager Abhaya Amaradasa said at the ceremony that “The
Dinamina Vesak Kalapaya which was launched over five decades ago has
taken the lead in heralding a revival of Buddhism.
The edition has valuable articles on Buddhism, Philosophy and
Buddhist Civilization. Lake House publishes several Buddhist
publications named as “Aloka Udapadi” and “Budu Sarana”.
Delivering an anusasana on this special occasion, Presidential
Advisor Most. Ven. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera said as an institution,
Lake-House always comes forward to take part in Buddhist activities and
this year too, the organization has taken steps to publish the annual
Dinamina Vesak (Kalapaya).
“We can see a number of Vesal Kalapaya in several areas of the
country during the Vesak season. But, the Dinamina Vesak Kalapaya is the
only Vesak Kalapaya which we can experience throughout the year”, the
Ven. Thera said.
“Lake House was started by its founder, the late D. R. Wijewardene to
assist the country’s freedom struggle and create a revival of Buddhism
and culture.
It is a media institution which presents news and information to the
public with responsibility, Most. Ven. Kotugoda Dhammawansa thera said.
“The annual Dinamina Vesak (Kalapaya) not only makes interesting
reading, but, is also a valuable subject for literary research,” he
added.
