Operations at SLPA run smoothly despite TU action
All staff members and employees of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA)
reported to work yesterday as usual and operations and office work of
the institution ran well despite the strikes said to be organized
island-wide to paralyze the daily chores of a number of sectors. The
strike organized to be campaigned on the 21, May, was totally
unsuccessful within the port premises.
The employees and staff members of SLPA, with the initiative of the
Management of the institution had taken steps to continue its daily
official and operational activities adding further assurance toward the
credibility it has expressed to its customers through efficiency and
productivity.
In a statement SLPA said that the staffs and employees of the
institution have successfully defeated these types of conspiracies
organized by certain groups to trap the work force, and have effectively
safeguarded the position secured by SLPA in the international maritime
sector through dedication and efficient teamwork.
“The recent implementations of mega development projects in the
sector aiming greater socio-economic development in the country and
timely convinces and facilities offered to the staffs and employees of
SLPA have developed a positive spirituality among them to dedicatedly
work towards the national objectives of the institution,” it said.
The Chairman of SLPA Dr. Priyath B. Wickrama with the Management of
the institution expressed his heartiest gratitude to all staff and
employees of SLPA for their dedication to work ahead to boost the
productivity of SLPA and to Minister of Port and Highways (Projects)
Rohitha Abeygunawardhane and ministry officials for the assistance and
timely guidance extended to make port activities a success.
