Army hits hard at Avent BC
Army BC easily tamed Avent BC 88-62 in their
Carlton Cup 2012 ‘A’ division basketball match played at the Henry
Pedris courts, Colombo yesterday. Soldiers dominated throughout the
game maintaining lead in all four quarters. They posted a
comfortable 12-point lead in the first quarter scoring 24 points
while restricting opponents to 12 points. Soldiers carried out with
the same fashioned play in the following quarter and widened the gap
adding 27 points in contrast to 19 from the rivals to enjoy the
break with confidence. Avent BC players did not able to resist the
strong Army attack and were 20 points trailing at the half time
(21-51).

FIM Asian Motocross Championship:
Jacques wins third place
Thirteen year old rider Jacques Gunawardena won
the third place in fourth round of 2012 FIM Asian Motocross
Championship Series at the Speedworld MX Circuit held at Manila,
Phillipines. This was his first competition outside Sri Lanka and he
was a potential threat to Number one and two champion leaders. With
this achievement, Jacques became the first Sri Lankan to get a
podium finish in an Asian Motorcross Championship.

Sri Lankans looking to add to their success
The third one-day international between New
Zealand and Sri Lanka will be played today at the Pallekele Stadium
starting at 2.30 p.m. The second game played at the same venue ended
in a victory for Sri Lanka on the Duckworth/Lewis system.Sri Lanka
will be looking to add to their success.
