Kanrich Finance emerge netball queens

Kanrich Finance Limited emerged FHA Sports Day netball champions for the third consecutive year when they beat Commercial Credit and Finance 19-3 in the final, played at the St. Peter's Grounds in Wellawatta.

Organized by the Finance Houses Association of Sri Lanka, the FHA Sports Day saw hundreds of sportsmen and women who represented 44 financial companies participating.

In the final, the Commercial Credit Finance team did not have an easy time facing the Kanrich girls. The first two quarters showed their dominance and the scores read 9-1 in favour of the winners. There were some resistance in the next two quarters but Kanrich's Madusha Gallage, Shereen Nugera and Prasadini Nilushika were too strong for their opponents as they went on to win the game with a comprehensive margin to finish at 19-3. Kanrich crowned as the netball champions, with Gallage, Nugera and Nilushika bagging awards for the Best Shooter, Best Player and Best Defender respectively. Incidentally, Madusha Gallage was the best shooter of the tournament in all three occasions that Kanrich Finance emerged champions.

On their way to the final, the Kanrich girls outplayed CDB & central finance quite comfortably in the semi-final.

Kanrich girls also have emerged C Division champions in the inaugural mercantile netball Championships, held last year, promoting themselves to play in this year's B Division tournament.
