The government will never interfere in affairs of
the Judiciary since it firmly stands for safeguarding the people’s
democratic rights, SLFP General Secretary Minister Maithripala
Sirisena said. The minister said the Executive, Legislature and
Judiciary are the guardian of the democratic rights of the people
and always perform a pivotal role in protecting and safeguarding
these rights.

Identify people’s needs accurately, President tells Local Govt
Heads
All heads of Local Government institutions
should dedicate themselves to serve the people in their areas by
identifying their needs properly, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said.
He said so when he met Local Government institution Heads at Temple
Trees on Tuesday. The meeting was held to ascertain the views and
suggestions of Heads of Local Government institutions regarding the
preparation of the 2013 Budget.
