Cattle transporting racket

A lorry transporting several head of cattle through a jungle road, was taken into custody with three suspects by Dambulla Police at Wattegammedda.

There were 41 animals while 13 of them had died due to congestion.

Police said pregnant cows, calves and 17 buffaloes were among the animals. The suspects were remanded on being produced before Dambulla District Judge and Magistrate S J Morawaka.
