YMCA aims at new Guinness World Record

Attempt to create record by five million people shooting basketball in a day:

The YMCA is attempting to create a Guinness Record by a largest number of people shooting a basketball in one day.

Five million people in 120 countries will take part in this attempt of creating a Guinness Record.

The YMCA during this event, plans to promote campaigns on Stop Child Abuse, Stop Global Warming and Prevent HIV AIDS.

The YMCA invited the public to support the campaign by shooting a basketball with a wish on the above goals.

The programme will be conducted on October 13 all over the world as a World Challenge and YMCA will be telling its story to the world by mobilizing five million people on one day.

Thirty eight local YMCAs around Sri Lanka will create space for people, especially youth and children to shoot a basketball on October 13.

The national event will be conducted on the same day at Colombo, Fort Railway Station from 7am to 6.30 pm.

There will be a temporary basketball ring opposite the station for people to shoot a basketball with a wish.

Over 10,000 people are expected to view this event.
