Lightning claims husband, wife

A man and woman were killed when they were struck by lightning at Medawachchiya yesterday. They were repairing their leaking roof when tragedy struck. The woman, the wife of the man was helping him at the time of the incident, Medawachchiya Police sources said.

The man died on the spot while the woman succumbed to the injuries on being taken to the hospital. Their one and half years old child who was said to be at the house when the lightning struck escaped unhurt.
