Energy conservation as a scout proficiency subject
The Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority in collaboration with the
Sri Lanka Scouts Association will introduce the subject of energy
conservation as a scout proficiency subject.
The Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority, under this concept, has
drawn up a plan to introduce energy conservation to vital sectors. The
Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority expects to create future
generation who will practise energy conservation.
The ceremonial inauguration of this programme was held with the
participation of Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka and
Scout Association Chief Commissioner Prof Nimal de Silva at the BMICH.
The function focused on introducing energy as a Scout Proficiency
subject, launching the Scout Energy Proficiency Badge and the Energy
guidebook for scouts titled I will be a good energy conservator,
introducing energy conservation curriculum for scouts. Sri Lanka
Sustainable Energy Authority chairman Dr Kithsiri Dissanayake said their
target group to spread the energy conservation message are children.
"The SLSEA with National Institution of Education collaboration is going
to introduce the subject of energy conservation to the school syllabus,"
he said.
