'Many development projects in the East'

Eastern Provincial Education, Health and Transport Minister Vimalaveera Dissanayake said the government is undertaking and has completed many development projects in the Eastern Province.

He said this after opening a newly constructed private bus stand in Batticaloa.

He said five years ago, schoolchildren had to walk miles. Today, with the efficient school bus service, the problem has been solved.The government has undertaken development projects in the fields of health, education, sanitation, water supply and many more.

"The journey to Trincomalee that took one day earlier, can be completed within two hours.

"When the government engages in development works, it does not discriminate between Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims," the provincial Minister said.
