Physical development should be supplemented with spiritual
development. It is teachers responsibility to provide balanced education
for the younger generation, North Central Province Governor Karunaratna
Divulgane said. Governor Divulgane made these observations at
Anuradhapura Kaluwila, Sena Maha Vidyalaya at a ceremony held to mark
World Teachers’ Day.
The governor said he was glad that new Chief Minister S M Ranjith
Samarakone was present at the meeting. He had the confidence that the
new Chief Minister would work towards improving the educational
conditions of the children in the North Central Province.
“There is no other profession than teachers’ profession which is held
in high esteem. We worship our teachers. If the teacher has a conviction
of the role he is expected to play, there is no difficulty for him to
create a new generation, friendly to society”, Divulgane said. “Now, all
communities can work together under one flag. All can partake Kiribath
seated together on a mat weaved with coconut leaves and talipot leaves.
The shape of the country which had that of a tear drop will change
into the shape of a heart, loved by all”,he said. “Let us make
determination to ensure the protection of the earth and sky to the
younger generation”, Governor Divulgane said. North Central Province
Chief Minister S M Ranjith Samarakone said he had identified several
projects in the education sector, which need attention. |
