Mobitel strengthens partnership with Colombo University

The National mobile service provider, Srilanka Telecom's Mobitel, recently announced the commencement of new initiatives with the University of Colombo.

The new approaching projects would not only build a good relationship between the two parties, but would also become part of its efforts to build an ICT- enhanced knowledge economy as Professor Kshanika Hirimburegama, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo appreciates it.

According to Mobites sources, the responsibility was to develop the country in ICT provisions and their mission was to build infocom. Job training in nationally and internationally, was another reason for this partnership.

Commenting on the partnership, Mobitel CEO, Lalith de Silva said, "our objective had always been to connect the unconnected." They wanted to do more like presenting an even large service to the mother country and further, escalating our dedication to empower today's youth.

To be acknowledged as a brand that cares always, these initiatives rise above Mobitel dedication towards structuring on tech - savvy and knowledge-rich society.

The five initiatives which were introduced had all been based on one point: uplifting customary classroom techniques.

An internship programme would be also launched between Mobitel and the University of Colombo. This opportunity would help students to further their studies and career, with crucially on job training being provided.

It is a certainty from Mobitel that the students who graduate would not only have prospect of fulfilling their necessities, but would also be able to make a name for themselves within the company, leading to job opportunities.

The national mobile service provider would also facilitate the set up of a research laboratory for university's science faculty. After all these great efforts to show its gratitude and support towards the academics of Sri Lanka, Mobitel intends to bring up peace awards.

The projects would consist of an award which to be awarded to a member of the academic staff of the University of Colombo. Mobitel aims at maintaining peace and freedom among undergraduates of the university to carry out their academic and curriculum activities sans disorder.
