Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake
commended the exceptional performance of Ordinary Seaman Sanjeewa Ruwan
Kumara, who won the gold medal in the 65 kilogram weight class at the
46th Asian Body Building and Fitness Championship held in Uzbekistan.
He handed over a Rs 150,000 cheque to S R Kumara in appreciation of
his achievements bringing credit to the Motherland at a function held at
Naval Headquarters on June 28. Sanjeewa, with his enormous potential as
a body builder, has a number of impressive achievements to his credit.
With the confidence gained by his superb physical strength nurtured
after joining the Navy, he won Mr Sri Lanka title in 2011 and came first
at the Sri Lanka Top 20 Body Building Championship – 2012. He also won
the gold medal at the National Sports Festival 2012. He is incidentally
the first Asian gold medalist in 64 years in the Sri Lanka body building
history. |
