Polls monitoring unit at Elections Secretariat

A National Coordinating Centre to monitor the conduct of the forthcoming polls for Eastern, North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councils will be established at the Elections Secretariat next week. Deputy Commissioner, Elections M M Mohamed said political party representatives, elections monitors, police and other stake -holders will work together at the centre under the guidance of his Department.

Govt set for resounding victory at PC polls - deputy minister

Deputy Environment Minister Abdul Cader said the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) is confident of a resounding victory at the forthcoming provincial council elections. Commenting on the upcoming polls, he said it was important for all communities, whether it be Sinhala, Tamil or Muslims to vote for the government and further strengthen it at a time when the country was forging ahead in all areas.
