Army in an easy 46-14 victory over Air Force

A hat- trict from Saliya Handanpangoda of Sri Lanka Army and a
wonderful performance as a team paved their way to demolish Sri Lanka
Air Force by 46 (4 goals, 3 tries and a penalty -14 ( 1 try and 3
penalties ) in the Dialog ‘A’ division rugby league match worked off at
Ratmalana Air Force grounds yesterday.
The Army started off with a beautiful touch down by Nishantha
Kotalawala which was converted by Upali Wickramasinge. Just a few
seconds later Air Force opened their account with Ganyantha Iddamalgoda
putting off a penalty through the bars.
There were another penalty each for both teams where Wickramasinghe
and Charith Senaviratne collected points for the Army and Air Force
respectively. Army led 10-6. Buddi Bandara took Air Force closer to Army
with a try score towards the end of the first half. Wickramasinghe
converted after Handapangoda touched down for Army to widen the gap.
Army led 22-11 to 22-11 by the short whistle.
During the second half Army restricted Air Force to just one penalty
while scoring two goals and two tries and cruised to an easy victory. |
