Douglas unhappy with Jaffna Hospital maintenance

Douglas Devananda urged the authorities to keep the Jaffna Teaching
Hospital premises clean.
The minister who visited the Jaffna Teaching Hospital recently,
examined the hospital and had a discussion with the hospital staff
including the Medical Superintended regarding the upkeep of the
premises.

Devananda said the entire premises including wards were
unsatisfactorily maintained and dirty, and even the healthy who visit
the hospital, would fall sick as the premises was unhygienic.
The minister instructed hospital authorities to immediately to clean
the entire premises.
He also instructed hospital authorities to obtain assistance from the
Jaffna Municipal Council to clean the premises which had been long
neglected and needed immediate attention.
Inquiring about disunity that had cropped up among some medical
practitioners, Devananda urged the hospital staff to work as one for the
development of the hospital and said it was only then they could serve
the needy.
The minister also instructed the officer - in - charge of the Jaffna
Police Station to inquire into the attack on the residence of a cancer
specialist.
He said he and the Health Ministry were closely monitoring the
development work carried out at the hospital. |
