Foreign experts to examine Pahiyangala skeleton

The initial examination of the skeleton found during an excavation in Pahiyangala concluded on Saturday.

Archaeological Director of Excavation Dr Nimal Perera said the excavation took 10 days.

Plans have been made to send the skeleton to a foreign country to obtain a report from experts.

He said the rumour that the skeleton was that of a girl between 16 and 18 years was false.

“It is completely wrong. No findings have been made yet as to its origin. We are still investigating, ” Dr Perera said.

He said the body had been laid very respectfully, the head pointing towards the North and the legs to the South.
